Meta Data is not visible on a webpage but nonetheless are some of the most valuable SEO components that can be optimised.
Metadata is, for the most part, a set of data that adds attributes to your page like a title or description. But meta data can also allow you to specify what is shown for a page in other applications like Google or Facebook.
Types of Meta Data
There are many types of meta data, but we will only cover the two most important to your SEO in this section:
- Page titles
- Meta description
Other types include the following, we will not be covering these until the next section of this guide:

- Meta robots
- GEO tags
