There is a range of URL data that we provide as part of our website crawler tool that can help in various SEO processes.
Currently Raptor we provide three types of URL data about a site, which are detailed below.
The number of characters in each URL.
This is the total number of characters in the URL, not including tracking / custom parameters. Anything after a “?” is not include in the count.
The web address of a page, image, video and resources.
This is a URL as we found and crawled it, as such it will always be an absolute URL.
Just the domain component of a URL.
This is the domain stripped out of the URL, for example the text highlighted in red is the domain:
The text highlighted in red is what is returned in the field for this column.
The sub-domain is not included within this field, only the domain.
We do all the following with the web crawler’s scraped URL data, to determine:
- The length of a URL
- The URL itself
- The domain (extracted from the URL)
Sitemap data can be used for many things, such as easily and quickly identifying:
- If a URL is too long
- All the URLs of a site
- To which domain the URL is part of
